Therapy vs Coaching

Therapy, also called counseling or psychotherapy, is a long-term process in which a client works with a healthcare professional to diagnose and resolve problematic beliefs, behaviors, relationship issues, feelings and sometimes physical responses. The idea behind therapy is to focus on past traumas and issues to change self-destructive habits, repair and improve relationships and work through painful feelings.

Coaching, it is often said, is more collaborative and the coach does not claim to be an expert on all topics. They typically do not dwell on the past; it is results-oriented and aims to maximize capacity, not process feelings.  The duration with a life coach tends to be a shorter time frame or project based; its focus is narrowing in on a few topics at a time. The process of life coaching takes the client’s current starting point as an acceptable neutral ground and is more action-based from that point onward. A life coach enables the person receiving treatment to take control of their life and take action to steer it toward their goals.

Having a Certified Youth Life Coach and/or Peak Performance Coach saves you from taking the long route to find solutions and positions you for positive growth moments, in your daily life. Coaching has been proven to work when the client is willing to grow and when there is an obvious gap between where the client is and where he or she wants to be. What to expect

When you start, I will get a baseline of what you are looking for from a Peak Performance Coach.  You will fill out some introductory forms, so I can get a peek into your goals, aspirations and/or areas of improvement.  Sessions are 50 minutes, virtually or in person (Covid-19 pending), preferably weekly for the first 4 weeks.


YOU are in control of the sessions and as your coach, my role is to listen, keep you focused, reframe negative thoughts, when needed and cultivate your thoughts. I help you break through old barriers and develop new practices so you can reach your desired goals.  Lastly, we will use many different platforms and resources to assist you on this courageous journey.
